Transcript of Hina Rabbani Khar's Interview with AlJazeera TV

Transcript of  Hina Rabbani Khar's Interview with AlJazeera TV

AlJazeera: The American Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Admiral Mike Mullen on Thursday essentially accused, indirectly accused the ISI of helping the Haqqani network or being an arm of Haqqani network and carrying out these attacks on US embassy in Kabul. How does your government responsd to that?

Hina Rabbani Khar: Its just something which is... obviously goes very very very unappreciated on our side. This is unsubstantiated, no evidence has been shared with us. If you talk about links I'm quite sure CIA also has links with many terrorist organizations around the world, by which we mean intelligence links. And this particular network that they continue to talk about is a network which is the blue eyed boy of CIA itself for many years, I mean it was created by the CIA it could be said.

AlJazeera: this accusation its very serious, how is it going to affect the relationship between Pakistan and Unites States.
Hina Rabbani Khar: Partners... Allies do not talk to each other through the public.this is something that we took up we have taken up with the US and if this continues the only way that we have to interpret this is that this is the policy decision of the US then we have the right to be able to take our own policy decisions. We want to partner with the US, we have said this repeatedly. This is a complex problem, looking for scape goats... blame games will not help. I just hope that we'd be give a chance to cooperate each other and the doors will remain open. Because statements like this are pretty much close to shutting those doors.

AlJazeera: The comments by Adm. Mullen can be seen almost as a third strike. Your administration has criticized the US gov for the drone strikes in western tribal areas. You have the attack that killed Osama Bin Ladin on Pakistani soil without knowledge of Pk military or Admin. What would it take to finally break that relationship between the Unites States and Pakistan.
Hina Rabbani Khar: I think we must not be tested more than we have the ability to bear.  You have to look at the ground realities, we have repeatedly said tha use of drone attacks is not against our sovereignty it is also counter productive. It alienates the people that you want to build as friends against this fight against terrorism. The gov of pres zar and pm gilani has done an excellent job in being able to develope ownership of this war from amongst the people of Pakistan.
Now it seems as if the US is going out of its way to alienate the same  been able to develope an ownership of this war for.
Hina Rabbani Khar is Pakistan's minister of foreign affairs.
